Hail OH Hail Oh Infantry Marching Cadence

by TheOperative on July 25, 2008

Since today is Christmas and our troops our fighting for us, my mind has wondered back to when I was in. This time of year was always difficult to be in the military, especially if you didn’t have any leave time, or couldn’t afford to go home. Single soldiers, in the barracks would sometimes have little to do , since the place was all but deserted around Christmas time.

Now just imagine, being in harm’s way half way around the world. Those guys deserve a lot more than what we’re giving them. And I mean that in all aspects, respect, pay, gratitude and overall support.

Anyhow, for some reason I started thinking about a favorite cadence of mine, this is from memory so if I have left out some lyric please comment below.

I still get chills sounding it off.

Up in the morning out of the rack
Greeted at dawn with an early attack

First Sergeant Rushes me off to chow
But I don’t eat it any how

Oh hail Oh Hail oh Infantry
Queen of Battle follow me

An airborne ranger’s life for me
Cause nothing in this world is free

In a big bird up in the sky,
all will jump and some will die

Off to battle we will go,
to live or die, hell I don’t know

Oh hail oh hail oh infantry
Queen of battle follow me

I look to the sky I have no fear,
My Ranger God is always near.

Oh hail Oh hail oh infantry
Queen of battle follow me

Your left right , Delta!

Mostly the way I have always known it. Just tweaking it a bit for the way I deliver it to my soldiers:

Up in the morning, out of the rack
Greeted at dawn, with an early attack
First Sergeant Rushes me off to chow
But I don’t eat it anyhow

Oh hail Oh Hail oh Infantry
Queen of Battle follow me
An airborne ranger’s life for me
Cause nothing in this world is free

From a big bird in the sky,
All will jump, and some will die.
Into battle we will go,
to live or die, hell I don’t know

Oh hail Oh Hail oh Infantry
Queen of Battle follow me
An airborne ranger’s life for me
Cause nothing in this world is free

In the morning drizzling rain,
I am hit, but feel no pain.
In my heart I have no fear,
Because my Ranger God is here.

Oh hail Oh Hail oh Infantry
Queen of Battle follow me
An airborne ranger’s life for me
Cause nothing in this world is free

All will jump, and some will die.
Into battle we will go,
to live or die, hell I don’t know

i have heard it a few ways but my DI always did it this way

Up in the morning, out of the rack
Greeted at dawn, with an early attack
First Sergeant Rushes me off to chow
But I don’t eat it anyhow

Oh hail Oh Hail oh Infantry
Queen of Battle follow me
An airborne ranger’s life for me
Cause nothing in this world is free

All will jump, and some will die.
Into battle we will go,
to live or die, hell I don’t know

Oh hail Oh Hail oh Infantry
Queen of Battle follow me
An airborne ranger’s life for me
Cause nothing in this world is free

In the morning drizzling rain,
I am hit, and feel no pain.
In my heart I have no fear,
Because my Ranger God is here.

The Motors And Artillary
The Screaming Bursts Suround me
Jagged Sharpnel on the Fly
Kills My Buddy Makes Me Cry

Oh hail Oh Hail oh Infantry
Queen of Battle follow me
An airborne ranger’s life for me
Cause nothing in this world is free

I’m in AIT right now and my sgt. Sings this cadence I can’t remember how it goes and can’t find it online anywhere. Before the hail o hail infantry he says something like I look into the sky and I wonder why some will live and others die.

This is my favorite cadence. HOOAH to all who have served, who currently serve, and to all who will follow us.

To whom it may Concern;

I sang oh hail oh hail oh Infantry while serving
with the 3/17 th Inf Ft. Ord Ca. 1982, again with
the 193rd Inf Bde. Panama.

Oh hail oh hail oh infantry
queen of battle follow me
mama said before she died
you’d be a ranger in the sky

oh hail oh hail oh infantry
queen of battle follow me
long ago my mama said
join the infantry and you’ll be dead

This cadence boost any soldiers adrenaline
Can I get a Hooaah?

I proudly served 1974 thru 1994 Inf all the way!
