We're again seeing alot of Trolling around here.
They will try and bait you into acting the way that they stereotypically expect you to act. If they could, they would try to debate you and then beat you over the head with facts. Since they can't, they will use emotions and half truths. So, please, be aware of their tactics and act accordingly.

I'm asking for you to watch the name calling. Don't be afraid to bedunk their 'points' or theories, but please refrain from personal attacks.
Lets act like the ones who believe in personal responsibility.

Trust me, the Trolls will be weeded out in due course, but I'd really like to see the opposite view point expressed here and they shouldnt need to feel on the defensive. We can operate with a 'agree to disagree' mentality.

So, if you're happy and you know it, clap your hands.

Yeah, he called us "losers" in his very first post, and I see in this very thread he had the gall to complain about our name-calling. Edog, I know you're a mod and I don't mean to buck your authority. But my feeling is that when someone comes along behaving as despicably as Landslide, he deserves a fair amount of verbal contempt. I should qualify this by saying that I don't know what all happened here last night.

I was trying to facilitate give/take dialog and ended up giving in to him more than I facilitated the usual gang already here.
See, appeasment doesnt work.

Also, I did ban him when I saw he said something about our name calling. After warning him about starting fights.

Oh, it wasnt the verbal contempt that I was addressing, it was name calling. Which I admit, I gave him too much leeway.

This manner of shenanigans will not be repeated.

I agree. Although, I admit that it's hard to resist letting it to degrade to name calling--especially when they start off in their first post doing so themselves. It usually doesn't take long to detect when a new member is a troll. This last one started as one. When they are bent on stirring up trouble no matter what is posted, you can tell that discussion/debate isn't their goal. Even though RI gets a bit irritating at times, at least he does attempt to discuss the topics.

For the most part, I don't think I did much name-calling. It's hard to remember what all I said to him in so many posts, but I do remember that I called him a dumbass when he made a statement that was untrue by reason of the Constitution, and I said he was stupid at some point or other (I think I was talking to someone else about him). My own feeling is that my choice of words didn't go too far; I don't know if you agree or not. By the way, since my previous post on this thread, I have caught up with all the new stuff from last night.
