    Corruption

Public education is corrupt in so many ways. They say they're preparing students for the future, but are we really going to grow up and sit around in a classroom doing math worksheets? No. We'll be out in the world, and we won't know what to do. They have no sense of individuality, just control, shoving those kids on through the years till they're finally rid of them.

When my dad was my age, there was a program for academically gifted kids where they would just go and do a project - no one told them what project, just whatever they were into. I wish they'd kept that program. Our GT program ends in sixth grade - there's just honors and AP classes after that, and internships - and it's all standardized and dead.

I thought that too when I was going to school. I never would have believed I would be using this stuff in the real world, but I do. I'm in construction inspections and we use them all the time.

I have to question the number of 'gifted' kids. NOT that you guys weren't. But researchers have ccompleted some studies and they seem to indicate that these kids that have been treated as gifted and special and no on should lose, eceryone is a winner...these kids are suffering from depression in higher numbers than previous generations who were not treated like this. It's because once they enter the real world they don't get all that extra attention and 'my kids a this that or the other at such and such school'. Truly gifted kids will go on to above average things...those kids that aren't truly 'gifted' are in for some sore disappointments.
