"Abolish all Public Education"
Hmmm....and here I thought all this time that this was the goal of the NEA/WEA...
speaking of the propaganda arm of the Dem party....re-education camps from those too young and innocent to know the difference.

I should mention the source of my current...well...hmmm...er...disappointment in the school system...
My recent grad daughter and I spent much of the day doing dad day stuff. She started talking about politics, and has proudly proclaimed herself a Dem. From taking dem propaganda masquerading as "Civics".
I don't know if I was more irritated at her from being taken in by the lib/dem activist teachers at school or at the school itself...
Tons of "I feel..."
Tons of "Bush is trying to..."
"Fear, fear, fear..."
I kept asking her specifics, and virtually everything was about 180 degrees skewed from reality. She was even talking about Bush's agenda as being fulfillment of biblical prophecy about the end times.
And I should mention, for complete disclosure, that part of the reason back in the fall that she was on the verge of flunking out from lack of effort...found out later...was that she was convinced from various books and videos in her momster's house that the end of the world was imminent, so why bother?
There always seem to be more sharks in the water than you can possibly imagine, even the mud puddles out on the stump farm.
I'm sure that it wasn't God's intention that it be this difficult. Fortunately for me, God's a lot bigger than me and extends Grace to the humble.

Many see school vouchers as a way for us parents to let the school system know how we feel about a particular school and/or district. It would give us the chance to send our children to school where we want not be held down to just the local district. We could the use the money to send our kids to Private Christian or Catholic schools or us the money for either curriculum or supplies for home school.

If schools were run like a business the unproductive teachers would be canned.
Student performance is directly linked to abilities of the teacher.
Such is the nature of free enterprise.
You grow your business by building customer satisfaction. You do this with a good, affordable product and by listening to your clients. You learn what the customer wants and produce the product they will buy.

If public sector education can compete with the private sector toe to toe in a real business environment, well then power to them.

The only problem is when you have the government forcing your and my children to be taught evolution not as a theory but as fact and not creationism (as well) and the school system (forced by the ACLU) telling me that my grammer school aged children have to take a class where they are taught it is okay to be homosexual, under the guise of teaching them not to judge people for lifestyle choices, when I spend years teaching them why God teaches it is wrong.
Sorry, I don't want the government mixed up in my kids education like that. Children only see education as a gift if parents teach them that, most children see it as something they are forced to do. That is IMO the reason the drop out rate among many minorities is so high.
The playing field between governmant and private sector schools will never be even because the government can make laws and force what ever they want on private schools, when ever they decide to do it.
Understanding that I have no idea of the school system up north of the border. Only here in hillbilly country.
