In the wake of the battle over a mosque at Ground Zero, a move by the Hartford City Councilis sure to have its critics.

The Council announced Tuesday that it has invited local imams to perform Islamic invocations at the beginning of the Council meetings in September.

An e-mail from the Common Council called it "an act of solidarity with our Muslim brothers and sisters."

The email even referenced the ongoing issue in New York. "One of the goals of the Council is to give a voice to the many diverse peoples of the City, which is especially important given the recent anti-Islam events throughout the country."
How about the shrilling wail of an Islamic call to worship to open up city council meetings? Don't count on those whiney secular humanists to cry about "separation of church and state" the way they do during any recognition of Christian involvement in American heritage! I.E. the libs finally found a religion they like, or can at least tolerate.

If there is any single issue which smokes out and identifies progressive thinking low life politicians, balancing the federal budget on an annual basis would surely be among the top ten picks. So, let us take a look at the most recent proposal to balance the annual budget to see if it is really designed to force an annually balanced federal budget.

Sen DeMint, [SC] introduced the following proposal on 2/4/2010 which has 16 co-sponsors:

Sen Burr, Richard [NC]
Sen Chambliss, Saxby [GA]
Sen Coburn, Tom [OK]
Sen Cornyn, John [TX]
Sen Crapo, Mike [ID]
Sen Ensign, John [NV]
Sen Enzi, Michael B. [WY]
Sen Graham, Lindsey [SC]
Sen Inhofe, James M. [OK]
Sen Isakson, Johnny [GA]
Sen Kyl, Jon [AZ]
Sen LeMieux, George S. [FL]
Sen McCain, John [AZ]
Sen Risch, James E. [ID]
Sen Sessions, Jeff [AL]
Sen Vitter, David [LA]

S.J.RES.27 -- Proposing a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution of the United States

(editorial comments are in bold)

`Article--

`Section 1. Total outlays for any fiscal year shall not exceed total receipts for that fiscal year, unless three-fifths of the whole number of each House of Congress shall provide by law for a specific excess of outlays over receipts by a rollcall vote.
NOTE: Under Section 1, the amendment immediately states how it may be overruled by a three-fifths vote.

`Section 2. The limit on the debt of the United States held by the public shall not be increased, unless three-fifths of the whole number of each House shall provide by law for such an increase by a rollcall vote.
NOTE: Under Section 2, the very intentions for the amendment [putting an end to increasing the national debt] can be subverted by allowing Congress to increase the national debt without providing specific taxes equaling the increase in the national debt.

`Section 3. Prior to each fiscal year, the President shall transmit to the Congress a proposed budget for the United States Government for that fiscal year in which total outlays do not exceed total receipts.
NOTE: Section 3 is absolutely meaningless and an illusion to portray fiscal responsibility. Have we not just learned with the recent health care proposal debate how projected figures can be manipulated by our Executive to portray legislation in which outlays and receipts are in balance when they are not?

`Section 4. A bill to increase the internal revenue shall require for final adoption in each House the concurrence of two-thirds of the whole number of that House by rollcall vote.
NOTE: While Section 4 discourages taxes to be increased by requiring a two-thirds vote in each House, the amendment encourages Congress to simply increase the national debt by a three fifths vote in both Houses.

`Section 5. The Congress may waive the provisions of this article for any fiscal year in which a declaration of war is in effect. The provisions of this article may be waived for any fiscal year in which the United States is engaged in military conflict which causes an imminent and serious military threat to national security and is so declared by a joint resolution, adopted by a majority of the whole number of each House, which becomes law.
NOTE: The flimflamery under Section 5 is most remarkable. In addition to setting the amendment aside as stated in Section 1, a simple majority vote in each House may ignore the requirement to balance the budget by simply declaring an existing military conflict has caused an “imminent and serious military threat to national security“. Have we not just seen how this “crisis” scare tactic mentality has been used to plunder our federal treasury under TARP; how it has been used to bail out auto companies which have blood sucking unions, and used to increase the national debt beyond human comprehension?

`Section 6. The Congress shall enforce and implement this article by appropriate legislation, which may rely on estimates of outlays and receipts.
NOTE: And here, under Section 6, we find the proposal‘s crown jewel! It is proposed to be etched in stone [our Constitution] that the entire balanced budget act heretofore is to be based upon “estimates”. How sweet of the amendment’s supporters to be so confident in, e.g., the Office and Budget Management, which has just opened the door to Obamacare with its fuzzy math ‘estimates” which are now known, beyond the shadow of doubt, to be nothing more than mathematical alchemy to allow additional unsustainable spending and borrowing.

`Section 7. Total receipts shall include all receipts of the United States Government except those derived from borrowing. Total outlays shall include all outlays of the United States Government except for those for repayment of debt principal.
NOTE: And what happens when total receipts derived from borrowing far exceed those for repayment of debt principal?

`Section 8. The provisions of this article respecting the internal revenue shall take effect upon the date of ratification of this article. The remaining provisions of this article shall take effect beginning with the later of the second fiscal year beginning after its ratification or the first fiscal year beginning after December 31, 2015.'.

Bottom line is, Senator DeMint and his 16 co-sponsors are perpetrating a fraud which is titled “a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution of the United States“. The truth is, the proposal neither compels an annual balanced budget, nor requires equal taxes to finance increases in the national debt.

And just for the record, let it be known that our existing Constitution already provides a specific method [an apportioned tax among the States] to deal with annual deficits should Congress borrow to meet its expenditures. But our progressive thinking RINOs, and the fans of an ever expanding and bloated federal government, fear the wisdom of our founding father’s instructions for dealing with deficits. Our founder’s instructions, if followed, would bring to a grinding halt the plundering of our national treasury, end Congress’s irresponsible spending and borrowing, and above all, would make every member of Congress immediately accountable to their State’s Governor and Legislature should Congress engage in irresponsible deficit spending, in which case, each state’s Congressional Delegation would have to return home with a bill for their State to pay to extinguish any deficit Congress created during the year by Congress. And, each State’s share of the bill is pre determined by our Constitution’s fair share formula:

States’ population
---------------------------- X ANNUAL DEFICIT = STATE’S SHARE
Total U.S. Population

As you can see, there are no gimmicks under our founder’s no nonsense remedy. It’s pay to play all the way! For a summary of our Founder’s original tax plan see: CLICK HERE.

“…a national revenue must be obtained; but the system must be such a one, that, while it secures the object of revenue it shall not be oppressive to our constituents.”___ Madison, during the creation of our Nation’s first revenue raising Act

WASHINGTON -- The Justice Department is investigating a handful of apparently anti-Muslim incidents in four states, including the stabbing of a Muslim cab driver in New York City.

FBI agents and civil rights division investigators also are looking into vandalism and other incidents at mosques or mosque construction sites in Arlington, Texas; Murfreesboro, Tenn.; Madera, Calif.; and Waterport, N.Y.

The open criminal investigations were confirmed by civil rights division spokeswoman Xochitl (SOH-chee) Hinojosa in response to a query from The Associated Press.

Attorney General Eric Holder met Tuesday with Muslim and other religious leaders to discuss the attacks and the uproar over a planned mosque near ground zero in New York.
As it is reported Iran is paying bounty money for U.S. soldiers to be killed, a Ha-mosque is on the verge of being built near Ground Zero in which the imam is connected to Hamas, Hezbollah is operating on our southern border, and we are at war with Islamic terrorists, Eric Holder will ignore all of this and spend his time investigating anti-Islam hate crimes. I wonder whose side he's on?

First we learned that the imam spearheading the Ground Zero mosque, Imam Faisal (Fuzzy) Abdul Rauf, is currently on a taxpayer funded trip to the Middle East. What is he doing over there? I presume that he is raising funds for his mosque .. or as Florida Moonbat Alan Grayson likes to call it, "his health club." Yeah, health club my left butt cheek. But as if sending Imam Fuzzy on a taxpayer-funded trip wasn't bad enough, we are now going to send Mrs. Fuzzy on a trip as well.
The State Department is sending Daisy Khan, Imam Fuzzy's wife, to the United Arab Emirates to talk about her views about Muslim life in America. Hmmm I wonder what she is going to say? Well .. over the weekend she described the outcry against her beloved mosque as "beyond Islamophobia. It's hate of Muslims." Now if that is what she told an American audience can you just imagine what she is going to say once she is on her own turf amongst her own people? Oh yeah ... she's really going to be such a great ambassador for the country that is fighting her husband's Mosque.
Go back to my previous bit about Obama being a Muslim ... or not. Another point .. Obama's State Department seems to be anxious to send Muslims abroad on the taxpayer's dime to speak to Muslims about being Muslim in America? Yeah .. that really quells the rumors, doesn't it?

Good points from the talkmaster. It is getting harder for the chancellor to make the case he is not a Muslim.

Rolling blackouts and enforced power cuts are affecting key industrial areas. The prosperous eastern city of Taizhou turned off street lights and ordered hotels and shopping malls to cut power use. In Anping County southwest of Beijing, an area known as China's wire-manufacturing capital, thousands of factories and homes have endured daylong blackouts over the past two weeks.
Iran is paying Taliban fighters $1,000 for each U.S. soldier they kill in Afghanistan, according to a report in a British newspaper.

The Sunday Times described how a man it said was a "Taliban treasurer" had gone to collect $18,000 from an Iranian firm in Kabul, a reward it said was for an attack in July which killed several Afghan government troops and destroyed an American armored vehicle.

The treasurer left with the cash hidden in a sack of flour, the newspaper said, and then gave it to Taliban fighters in the province of Wardak. In the past six months, the treasurer claimed to have collected more than $77,000 from the company.

The Sunday Times said its investigation had found that at least five Kabul-based Iranian companies were secretly passing funds to the Taliban.

Dancers of all types — ballet, modern, hip hop and Broadway — take over the room, first for an afternoon workshop, during which students from around the country will have the chance to work with some of the biggest names in dance.
Then, after a short break, the students return to see their mentors perform in an hour-long, star-studded show. Even Broadway's young "Billy Elliot" will be there — four Billys actually, from the show's rotating cast.
But the main attraction is the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, and that's because its celebrated artistic director, Judith Jamison, soon to retire after two decades in the job, is the honoree of the event.

One thing stands out clearly as I cruise the internet and that I see article after article with democrats saying that more taxes need to be paid. They point to the national debt and claim it does not matter since they need more money for entitlement programs. They insist that the tax burden is the lowest since 1950 and that if we do not raise taxes the the nation will not flourish.

Since history has shown us that higher taxes end up costing the nation economically and there are past examples to prove this the talk of raising taxes does nothing but hope that a different outcome comes from doing the same thing. In a recent post RET said the same thing. The eventual outcome is added revenue from taxes are not used to pay down the debt but utilized for more social programs.

Okay for a little reality here, while democrats call for more taxes they really mean they want others to pay it while they escape the added burden themselves.

WAYNE ALLYN ROOT: Overwhelm the system

Barrack Obama is no fool. He is not incompetent. To the contrary, he is
brilliant. He knows exactly what he's doing. He is purposely overwhelming
the U.S. economy to create systemic failure, economic crisis and social
chaos -- thereby destroying capitalism and our country from within.

Barack Obama is my college classmate ( Columbia University , class of
'83). As Glenn Beck correctly predicted from day one, Obama is following
the plan of Cloward & Piven, two professors at Columbia University . They
outlined a plan to socialize America by overwhelming the system with
government spending and entitlement demands. Add up the clues below.
Taken individually they're alarming. Taken as a whole, it is a brilliant,
Machiavellian game plan to turn the United States into a
socialist/Marxist state with a permanent majority that desperately needs
government for survival ... and can be counted on to always vote for
bigger government. Why not? They have no responsibility to pay for it.

-- Universal health care. The health care bill had very little to do with
health care. It had everything to do with unionizing millions of
hospital and health care workers, as well as adding 15,000 to 20,000 new
IRS agents (who will join government employee unions). Obama doesn't care
that giving free health care to 30 million Americans will add trillions
to the national debt. What he does care about is that it cements the
dependence of those 30 million voters to Democrats and big government.
Who but a socialist revolutionary would pass this reckless spending bill
in the middle of a depression?

-- Cap and trade. Like health care legislation having nothing to do with
health care, cap and trade has nothing to do with global warming. It has
everything to do with redistribution of income, government control of the
economy and a criminal payoff to Obama's biggest contributors. Those
powerful and wealthy unions and contributors (like GE, which owns NBC,
MSNBC and CNBC) can then be counted on to support everything Obama wants.
They will kickback hundreds of millions of dollars in contributions to
Obama and the Democratic Party to keep them in power. The bonus is that
all the new taxes on Americans with bigger cars, bigger homes and
businesses helps Obama "spread the wealth around."

-- Make Puerto Rico a state. Why? Who's asking for a 51st state? Who's
asking for millions of new welfare recipients and government entitlement
addicts in the middle of a depression? Certainly not American taxpayers.
But this has been Obama's plan all along. His goal is to add two new
Democrat senators, five Democrat congressman and a million loyal
Democratic voters who are dependent on big government.

-- Legalize 12 million illegal immigrants. Just giving these 12 million
potential new citizens free health care alone could overwhelm the system
and bankrupt America . But it adds 12 million reliable new Democrat
voters who can be counted on to support big government. Add another few
trillion dollars in welfare, aid to dependent children, food stamps, free
medical, education, tax credits for the poor, and eventually Social
Security.

-- Stimulus and bailouts. Where did all that money go? It went to
Democrat contributors, organizations (ACORN), and unions -- including
billions of dollars to save or create jobs of government employees across
the country. It went to save GM and Chrysler so that their employees
could keep paying union dues. It went to AIG so that Goldman Sachs could
be bailed out (after giving Obama almost $1 million in contributions). A
staggering $125 billion went to teachers (thereby protecting their union
dues). All those public employees will vote loyally Democrat to protect
their bloated salaries and pensions that are bankrupting America . The
country goes broke, future generations face a bleak future, but Obama,
the Democrat Party, government, and the unions grow more powerful. The
ends justify the means.

-- Raise taxes on small business owners, high-income earners, and job
creators. Put the entire burden on only the top 20 percent of taxpayers,
redistribute the income, punish success, and reward those who did nothing
to deserve it (except vote for Obama). Reagan wanted to dramatically cut
taxes in order to starve the government. Obama wants to dramatically
raise taxes to starve his political opposition.

With the acts outlined above, Obama and his regime have created a vast
and rapidly expanding constituency of voters dependent on big government;
a vast privileged class of public employees who work for big government;
and a government dedicated to destroying capitalism and installing
themselves as socialist rulers by overwhelming the system.

Add it up and you've got the perfect Marxist scheme -- all devised by my
Columbia University college classmate Barack Obama using the Cloward and
Piven Plan.

WASHINGTON -- According to polls, Americans are in a mood to hold their breath until they turn blue. Voters appear to be so fed up with the Democrats that they're ready to toss them out in favor of the Republicans -- for whom, according to those same polls, the nation has even greater contempt. This isn't an "electoral wave," it's a temper tantrum.
...
My guess is that with a decided advantage in campaign funds, along with the other advantages of incumbency, Democrats will be able to mitigate these prospective losses -- perhaps even relieving Nancy Pelosi of the hassles of moving. But there's no mistaking the public mood, and the truth is that it makes no sense.

In the punditry business, it's considered bad form to question the essential wisdom of the American people. But at this point, it's impossible to ignore the obvious: The American people are acting like a bunch of spoiled brats.

The revulsion against Rs in 2006 and the blind leap into "Hope and Change" was mature, wise. But rejection of Pres. Obama and the D Congress? A "temper tantrum" "that makes no sense" by "spoiled brats"!

‘Machete’ reached the #3 spot at the box office opening weekend. But after viewing the film, it is clear that its producers lied about the extent of the film’s racial message, which includes vulgar atrocities, including the killing of a pregnant woman attempting to cross the border during one of the opening scenes. This deception about the film’s message could bring its tax incentives, worth millions in production costs, into question.
...
Now there is no doubt. Everything Jones quoted from the script was on screen in one form or another– and its tone was clear: opposition to illegal immigration is tantamount to murder, white racism and vile Machiavellian scheming.

The infrastructure spending is part of a package of targeted proposals the White House announced on Monday. Leave aside Obama's fanatical opposition to allowing Illinois hospitals to save the lives of babies with God-given souls inadvertently born alive during abortions. Also leave aside the fact that neither of his parents were Christians. And leave aside his current crop of "spiritual advisers," which is a collection of Mother Earth worshippers, polytheists and other nonbelievers.
