How sad; when a certain few decide for the masses what morality should be.
There must be a moral code for people to live by and must be adhered to or you have, as we now, do moral anarchy, and THIS IS what has brought down every great empire since the beginning of time. No great nation or empire has ever been defeated from without, but disintegrated from within.
We in this nation are at this crossroads. We are becoming morally corrupt and our children are being forced to go against the wishes of the family belief system.
In my opinion this must be attended to now.

Lithium, I am not trying to deny anyone their right to be happy, but let me ask you a question; why does happiness have to mean the right of marriage? Civil unions, if they contained the same basic legal protections as marriage, are not good enough? It seems to me that it is more about acceptance of a lifestyle, rather than equal treatment under the law. You say traditionalism is forced upon society, well I believe liberalism, and the homosexual lifestyle, is being forced upon us. Gay marriage is just another attempt to tear down long held values and beliefs, which if I understand you correctly, are counter productive to the advancement of society in your opinion. Personally I feel the complete opposite; in my way of thinking, and my experience, the decline of traditional values has only hurt us as a society for the most part. Sure, there are some things that have improved, such as domestic violence being taken seriously, as opposed to people turning a blind eye, but I truly feel that we have lost more than we have gained. Can you really tell me in all honesty that today's world is a better place, than was in the past ? While advancement and progress is necessary for a society to grow, there are some things that are timeless, such as core values and principles. Killing is no less wrong today, than it was 500 years ago, and so it is with many of our values.

For those in support of gay marriage...why is it ok for you to push your beliefs on me and my children? The morals of this country are all but gone. It is amazing to me that it has happened in my lifetime. My grandma was so much smarter than what I gave her credit for when I was young.
Here are the simple facts: gay marriage is not what everyone is so against...it is what comes with it - churches and priests, ministers, etc sued for not performing a wedding between those of the same sex. Christian schools sued for not allowing gay behavior on cdampus. Gay lifestyle being taught in school, and don't say it won't happen, cause it is happening in Mass. It is not so much the marriage, as the doors it opens. It is about knocking down the walls of morality one brick at a time. Here is a little gem that someone emailed me. This video from Planned Parenthood completely illustrates where this country is headed as far as what is becoming acceptable. THIS is what they are aiming at our kids...it is just short of pornographic. There are like 7 or 8 short (less than a minute) videos on teaching our teens how to have safe sex, and how to have sex in general...and it covers the whole gamet - from masturbation, to guys giving each other bj's without a condom.
I, for one, am never going to be ok with children in school being taught an agenda.
