Gay right issues
My response to those who support gay marriage is this;
I oppose gay marriage not because I dislike gays or am homophobic, but because marriage is between 1 man and 1 woman. Certain rights for same-sex couples are appropriate, but same-sex couples should be recognized as domestic partners and nothing more. I believe that homosexuals are gods children and deserve to be treated as such, but they aren't a married couple not because they are inferior in any way, but simply because marriage is between a man and woman.

I agree 90%, Mr.V. I don't think that we, as a society, should be forced to condone same-sex unions because it is their CHOICE to live that way and even though they're unmarried, they can share property, get adequate healthcare, etc., etc., that they whine about being unable to get without being legally recognized as a couple.
I've found the problem with trying to debate anyone on the other side is their knee-jerk reaction that we're "haters" because we disagree with them and same-sex marriage. Of course, I regard homosexuality as a perversion and they definitely don't like to hear that!Backhanding liberals into submission.

There is no more debate, as far as the liberals are concerned. If we oppose gay marriage, then we are homophobes, and haters. If we oppose any of the president's policies, then we are racists. If we believe that conflict is at times necessary to assure our safety, then we are warmongers. If we believe that every innocent infant has the right to be born, then we are right wing Christian fanatics. The list goes on and on.

Common sense also tells us that a top-down, one-size-fits-all plan will not improve the workings of a nationwide health-care system that accounts for one-sixth of our economy. - Sarah Palin

You want to stick to your own traditions and values, by yourself, thats great. Do it. But dont expect everyone else to, just because you feel you have the correct viewpoint. Are you people honestly that selfish and sure of your selfs that you think two people that love eachother, regardless of gender, shouldnt get married cause YOU dont condone it?
Stop with the forced traditionalism in society. Its a cancer. It does nothing but hold mankind back. Screw out of date tradition, dogmas, and authority. Think with logic and reason. We have a short time on this earth. Quit being so selfish as to deny certain people this happiness. You dont have to do anything. Just do what you Conservatives are always boasting and stay out of peoples lives...Last edited by Lithium; 10-14-2009 at 12:56 AM.

I oppose gay marriage, but do not oppose domestic partnership.
I am of questionable sexuality.

10-14-2009 01:05 AM #9You sixty years ago.My response to those who support interracial marriage is this;
I oppose interracial marriage not because I dislike blacks or am racist, but because marriage is between 1 man and 1 woman of the same race. Certain rights for interracial couples are appropriate, but interracial couples should be recognized as domestic partners and nothing more. I believe that interracial couples are gods children and deserve to be treated as such, but they aren't a married couple not because they are inferior in any way, but simply because marriage is between a man and woman of the same race.

Interracial marriage does not equal to homosexual marriage. Interracial marriage was the concern of a man and a woman of differing races marrying. Homosexual marriage is the concern of two members of the same gender marrying.
