03-08-2009 03:34 AM #22Thankfully I'm no where near that Mecca of Political Correctness. I live in a country whose former leader made it clear that fascists who support a Sharia state should leave. You live in a country where Islamic terrorism was going to be re-branded "Anti-Islamic Activity" by Labour politicians. I live in a country with free speech. You live in a country where sneezing in the general vicinity of a "minority" gets you arrested for hate crimes.Whereabouts in the UK are you from?
If living in a socialist police state that bends over for people who despise Western values is your cup of tea, then good on ya. Personally I hope Australia becomes a republic before "progressive" Britain replaces the Queen with an Ayatollah.

I'm sorry but isn't your Labour party trying to implement national Internet censorship? Don't talk to me about freedom of speech, mate.
Living in a country which is actually trying to make an effort to support a inevitably multi-cultural world is my cup of tea and I'm actually proud to be a part of it. If you want to see it differently, I can't stop that but it is a shame. If the words 'life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness' don't include the right to experiment with your own consciousness, then the Declaration of Independence isn't worth the hemp it was written on.

Doesn't mean that leftists support freedom of speech.
You mean where Islamic culture is the same as Western culture? Excuse me if that's a demented point of view.Living in a country which is actually trying to make an effort to support a inevitably multi-cultural world is my cup of tea and I'm actually proud to be a part of it. If you want to see it differently, I can't stop that but it is a shame.

And yes, I'm perfectly aware of the Left's disdain for free speech and freedom in general. That's why I don't intend to ever vote Labor.
I have no problem with multiculturalism per se. But Islamofascists don't support multiculturalism. They support a mono-religous Islamic state, wherever they live. And when you have Orwellian British pollies attempt to rename Islamic barbarism and murder as "Anti-lslamic activity"...well it'd be a bit like calling Nazism "Anti-German activity".Living in a country which is actually trying to make an effort to support a inevitably multi-cultural world is my cup of tea and I'm actually proud to be a part of it. If you want to see it differently, I can't stop that but it is a shame.
Point being, Britain has a large radical Islamic populaiton. Those 7/7 bombers were home grown and there's plenty more where that came from. Appeasement isn't going to make Britain look Muslim friendly. It's going to make Britian look weak and unable and unwilling to defend Western values. Political Correctness has only eroded free speech in Britain and it won't make you safe from Islamic terrorism. As long as Britain remains a nation of 'kuffars' you won't get any love from the broader Islamic world.

03-08-2009 08:21 PM #29"No statement is more unnecessary than the statement that the government should 'do something' about some issue. Politicians are going to 'do something,' whether or not something needs to be done, and regardless of whether what they do makes matters better or worse. All their incentives are to keep themselves in the public eye." - Thomas Sowell

Meh. Who looks at books way up high anyway.
Like a grocery store, we are drawn to things at eye level.
