Perhaps Volk can tell us just how much of this provocation Georgia is meant to take, until it has, by his reckoning, a right to 'mind' Russia's continuing belligerence ?

I'm departing here myself now for the night .. approaching 1AM here.

Provocation? These are annual war games that we hold in the Caucasus. They're on our own territory. NATO also recently held war games in Georgia that we considered "provocation", I don't see why we shouldn't be allowed to (on our own territory) yet NATO should.

About Venezuela in Cuba.. all they have done to the US so far is spout rhetoric. You say we shouldn't expand into countries hostile to the US, yet at the same time say that the sovereign post Soviet nations who are hostile to Russia (and have done more than rhetoric) should be allowed to join the US military alliance. That's quite a double standard.

That's quite the bulls---, because once again you ignore the fact that the U.S. never gobbled up countries, and the Soviet Union did. Many of them.

So now we're not allowed to hold war games on our own territory because of what the USSR did after WW2 :P

Nice obfuscation. I wasn't talking about the war games on your territory. And Putin and his puppet are both cut from the old Soviet cloth.

Oh right, you were talking about us stationing bombers in Venezuela or Cuba, which is also irrelevant to what the USSR did with Eastern Europe.

I don't see how stationing bombers there with the consent of that government (Chavez is basically asking us to) is the same thing as running through the country with troops on the way to Germany and installing a government.

The US has dealt with plenty of dictatorships. We would have things to do with them to increase our global clout. Why should we sit around with NATO expanding in our back yard, accepting neighbors that our hostile to us? We have to balance it out.
