    SC Governor in South America?

What is the deal with this guy? I thought he was a stand up guy but either he is not or he is being slandered by the Progressives in Power circles....Time will tell.

    This is what happened.

Gov. Sanford admits to extra-marital affair - More politics- msnbc.com

Sad but he apologized while coming upfront about it instead of allowing someone else to find out only for him to apologize because he was caught.

I don't think he needs to apologize to us. He has no obligation to share the inner workings of his personal life with the public.

They refer to his wife as the first lady in the article... I thought that term was generally reserved for President, not governors.

You don't think the only reason he came out and apologized is because he got caught going to Argentina without telling his wife, children or staff about where he was going? Or the fact that everyone was making such a big deal about him leaving the country without telling his wife, children or staff that eventually his adultery would be discovered?

I agree with Bullseyed it is not our business what he is doing. it is a family matter and the media should stay out of it.

The article said his wife knew about the affair. It came off as less of 'his wife didn't know' and more of 'his wife wasn't going to rat him out'.

No, he doesn't need to apologize to us. But since he has apologized while bringing it up, won't be easy for democrats to place anything against him.

Very forgiving wife and maybe really doesn't care about it and if she does she probable want to fix it without all the media invading their privacy.

I am considering the whole 'honesty with the voters' angle right now, but I don't really know to what extent that really should go. If someone is running for office and is comtemplating divorce from his wife, is that something they should tell us? I'm not sure. It doesn't really effect their ability to perform, but at the same time, character is important.

I didn't say his wife didn't know about the affair. I said she didn't know where he was. In fact, she's the one who reported him missing and started this whole three-ring-circus.

It's the three-ring-circus that made the discovery eventual.

Either way, his presidential aspirations are toast. Oh yeah, so are Nevada Senator John Ensign's presidential aspirations.
