    I sympathise. I absolutely do.

.. for what this is worth ..

Over here, we've something called 'Value Added Tax' .. levied on various items, and under rigid State control. But, except for very particular exceptions, not even the tax-obsessed UK Government (currently Leftie) chooses to apply VAT to food !

VAT - Value Added Tax : Directgov - Money, tax and benefits

Did they ever hear of cutting MANAGEMENT?????

The three who opposed it are outnumbered. They can't win. Now, the libertarians are trying to get enough signatures in the next 30 days to put it to the people to vote. We'll see what they get done.

We already pay taxes on groceries here in Georgia.
I'm surprised a state like Arizona doesn't already do so.

Well, I've been paying them this whole time.
If the state isn't getting it, then my grocery stores are getting a six and a half cent bonus on all my purchases.
