Don't know.
All I know is I can often times find a good whole grain bread on sale for 2.50
And, most importantly. A Venti, no whip, soy mocha at Starbucks costs $4.60+ tip. And, I know when I register my *$$ card I get the soy for free. Saving 40 cents.:)

And, yep even though I am an evil conservative I tip well and enjoy the small talk with the baristas. As well as the other customers.

"logic" reminds me a bit of my brother - all his whining about being poor (yet, he's going to college). My brother did just fine by himself financially, but he's never got over being poor as a kid - and we knew people who were poorer than we. There was one single mother in our area who raised two daughters in a two-room shack. And when I say "shack," I mean that literally.

Well, you're by far my new favorite.
I'm an east coast brat, there's no denying it. I'm 15 and I've never worked a day in my life (except for babysitting, dog walking, and volunteering at a school in Ecuador, which was, well, volunteering, and therefore doesn't really count).
And, you're 100% correct about Ivy League schools. The public school I attend, it's either straight A students or star athletes. The ones that get pulled under because of the pressure switch out. It's ridiculous. As for "merit based institutions" -- a recent NY Times article noted that so many students nowadays get straight As and perfect SATs that colleges will probably have to change their criteria for acceptance in the next 5 years.
I'd also like to point out (belatedly, I know) that a proletariat is, via dictionary.com, "the class of wage earners, esp. those who earn their living by manual labor or who are dependent for support on daily or casual employment; the working class."
Karl Marx may have used the term in his writings, but that doesn't mean that "proletariat" = "socialist."
Anyway, I hope you stick around. It's a real sausagefest in here, in reference to the ratio of conservatives to liberals. Not like that's surprising or anything, but it's refreshing and amusing to see someone like you pop up. Especially because you're funny too.
p.s. egotistical bastards are hands down the best kind.I do my best but I'm made of mistakes.

Hmmm, if I remember it was just a few years ago that the sat was "re-centered" to accommodate the "changes" in student development. (what ever that means)
SAT I Individual Score EquivalentsIn April 1995, the College Board recentered the score scales for all tests in the SAT Program to reflect the contemporary test-taking population.
Recentering reestablished the average score for a study group of 1990 seniors at about 500—the midpoint of the 200-to-800 scale—allowing students, schools, and colleges to more easily interpret their scores in relation to those of a similar group of college-bound seniors.
SAT Equivalence Tables
I thought colleges were trying to make it easier to get accepted.

...you have the intellect of my three-year-old nephew...
I don't care what you were talking about. I care about the term to which you were refering, which persons of intellect, persons of knowledge, the international community, the educated world, and I understand to be the proper usage of the term.
You are a joke. You shouldn't talk politics unless you understand these key terms. Learn, then speak.
