    "Bush isn't evil, he's unfit...and, frankly, a bit retarded."

Comeon - that is over the top, man.

He may not be the most intellectual president the nation has ever had, but a bit retarded?

    LMAO

    George Washington -

"I now make it my earnest prayer the God would have you and the State over which you preside, in His holy protection, that he would incline the hearts of the citizens to cultivate a spirit of subordination and obedience to government; to entertain a brotherly affection and love for one another, for their fellow citizens of the United States at large, and particularly for their brethren who have served in the field; and, finally, that he would be most graciously pleased to dispose us all to do justice, to love mercy, and to demean ourselves with that charity, humility, and pacific temper of mind, which were the characteristics of the Divine Author of our blessed religion, and without an humble imitation of whose example in these things we can never hope to be a happy nation." June 8, 1783 in a letter to the governors of the states on disbanding the army.

    Thomas Jefferson
    Belief -
    Episcopalian
"God who gave us life gave us liberty. And can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are of the Gift of God? That they are not to be violated but with His wrath? Indeed, I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just; that His justice cannot sleep forever." 1781, Query XVIII of his Notes on that State of Virginia.

"My views...are the result of a life of inquiry and reflection, and very different from the anti-christian system imputed to me by those who know nothing of my opinions. To the corruptions of Christianity I am, indeed, opposed; but not to the genuine precepts of Jesus himself. I am a Christian in the only sense in which he wished any one to be; sincerely attached to his doctrines in preference to all others..." April 21, 1803 in a letter to Dr. Benjamin.

    James Madison
    Belief
    Episcopalian
"Religion is the basis and Foundation of Government." June 20, 1785

In a manuscript on the Gospels and the Acts of the Apostles, Madison makes this statement.

"We have all been encouraged to feel in the guardianship and guidance of that Almighty Being, whose power regulates the destiny of nations." March 4, 1809 Inaugural Address

“We have staked the whole future of American civilization, not upon the power of government, far from it. We’ve staked the future of all our political institutions upon our capacity…to sustain ourselves according to the Ten Commandments of God.” [1778 to the General Assembly of the State of Virginia]

fundemental = fundamental - I guess your Dictionary missed that one slick. See we can do that too.

So impressed. What, did you grab these from the Heritage Foundation?

I'll accept two of these as religious men. Madison and Washington. I know of Madison, who history remembers as the least respected of the founding fathers. He waged the war of 1812 and waged it poorly, not to smear his service as a patriot and leader of the Revolution. I have also been to Mount Vernon and I know that Washington was very religious. He was a progressive member of the Virginia gentry and a great man. Jefferson, however, is a misfit in this crowd.

Jefferson might be described as a pantheist today. He viewed Christendom as innately flawed and tampered with. By no means did he believe in a literal deity. But he also saw the social function of religion and latched on to the figurehead of Jesus in a passionate and endearing way, much as I do.

I believe that Jesus was an excellent man, unafraid of heresy, who stood for his convictions against established and corrupted doctrines. I greatly admire men of this sort.

Right - that is part of his down home folksy charm, right - the occasional gaff. Great entertainment, each and every one of them. I know I laughed.

    Classmates?

    ...

I was talking about social class. And yes, much of the lower working class is made up by bastards. I was raised by a single mom for a long time. Most of my friends were raised by single moms. I am not belittling anyone.

    "Little boy?"

I don't mind the ad hominem. I even welcome it.

However, I find it appalling that you consider me a little boy. How old do you believe that our soldiers are? When do you think that they enlist? What class do you believe them of?

Fact is, they are people my age, of my class, put in a conflict of sovereignty that they don't care for and given a gun.

    Little boy?
