Is it a sin to only look at your neighbors wife? What if you only almost kill someone? Do you only go to jail for half the time if you pay half your taxes(Obamas friends are excluded from the last sentence). A bad idea is a bad idea. The lesser of two evils is still evil. I'd much rather be able to say I tried everything I could to stop something, than to have to try and defend myself later.

The lesser of two evils would be to let the recession take its course and accept that because this country has lived above its means for too long, it now has to live below its means.

I'm looking for more but whatever lack of support is partially offset by Obama's approval rating. I would like to agree with you but I am wearing my pessemist hat today.
I've never even heard of PollingReport, lol Where do they poll? The NYU campus? Check Ramussen.

Why the hell do that when you can purchase votes by saving people from themselves?

I will say this, however: It complicates the issue when the government its self promotes and condones irresponsible behavior as a matter of policy. (Community Reinvestment Act, the business practices of Fannie/Freddie, the nefarious deeds of people like Frank, Dodd, etc.) there is something to be said for the government putting their arm around someone and telling them its going to be ok, they really can afford that house, NAH, its their RIGHT to own a home and...yeah.

I absolutely agree with the idea of people owning their own failure and digging out of this hole the right way, onto solid financial ground. But the fact that we are not seeing justice be done to the idiots who started this mess is the real travesty. What's going to stop them from doing the same thing again? I really wouldn't put it past any of them that this entire mess wasn't engineered from the very beginning, tear down the system to rebuild it bigger, better and stronger!

    /tangent.

Well, you might be right. Economists are probably getting paid more now than ever to consult. Risk managers are going to get paid to rewrite the risk management programs.

If you think about it from a business perspective, let's say you and I own a light bulb business. And we know we can make a light bulb that can last forever, that no one will ever need to mess with or change. But we also know that if we only sell those light bulbs, we'll be out of business before long because we won't have any repeat customers. So instead of selling our lifetime bulbs, we sell 6 month bulbs. They don't last as long, but no one knows we have lifetime bulbs, so it seems ok. Well, if the economy never broke down periodically, if the markets were left to operate themselves, all these people who get paid to come in periodically and "fix the system" would become obsolete and be out of work. The money isn't in the cure, it's in the come back.

What's so interesting is Obama's constant retoric about the lack of republican support. I feel that Rush Limbaugh is right on with his idea that if Obama really thought that this bill would stimulate the economy he would be happy not having republican support. He would want to take all the credit for the success of this bill and make it clear that the democrats were the only ones to support it. I really believe that he is so insistant on the republicans support because he knows that it's going to bomb and wants to share the responsibility with the republicans. He wants to be able to say that it's "everyones" fault.....not just his.

And use it for an excuse to do more of the same.
