Is it a sin to only look at your neighbors wife? What if you only almost kill someone? Do you only go to jail for half the time if you pay half your taxes(Obamas friends are excluded from the last sentence). A bad idea is a bad idea. The lesser of two evils is still evil. I'd much rather be able to say I tried everything I could to stop something, than to have to try and defend myself later.

I know what you're saying with this. The reason why ANY conservatives are on the fence with any of this bailout nonsense is because the government intervened into PRIVATE business, and ruined their business. Because the government FAILED its job to protect our nation's interests by allowing foriegn automotive companies to do so much damage.

If the cops accidentally respond to the wrong house and kick in my door, I expect them to buy me a new damn door.

That being said, I dont think there is any way at this point for the government to repair the damage it has done to a number of businesses. Things I would advocate as a 'recovery' plan:

1.) Liquidate government controlled Fannie and Freddie and give (not loan) the funds to surviving private banks.
2.) Immediate reform of all the Carter era meddling BS they did to the financial system
3.) Either some sort of tax break/compensation to GM and Ford because of the failure of the government to regulate international trade in such a way to protect our businesses.

4.) The tax holiday plan on top of the three things listed above.

5.) Probably pull most/all of the funding for Affirmative Action plans to cover costs for good measure.





Things to think about: We're all worried about this right now... people saw it coming as far back as 2001 but it was kept pretty quiet until it was too late. Remember what the big deal was back in 2000? Social Security. Once we finally get rid of Obama, fix this with tax cuts, then Social Security is gonna bomb out and the new GOP pres will be blamed. Just watch.

6.) Investigation and Prosecution of government officials and political appointments to high ranking positions at Freddie/Fannie. Start with Barney Frank. Put him in the hole.

I think the only right thing to do is stand totally against it because it's really a high odds of failure plan and we as Republicans need to be able to say "told you so."
