Whether or not Obama is gearing up to satisfy an agenda focused on a specific objective .. to me, this all comes across as a hardline socialist simply behaving like one.
Socialism is all about disempowering the individual, so that power is concentrated at the top, then fed on down as the State feels fit. Obama will sell every measure he takes as being in the public interest .. and he'll strive to make everyone believe it .. and, given that the majority do, he'll then create a dependence culture.
With such a culture rooted in peoples' minds as 'the' way to go, his stranglehold on individual liberty is greatly enhanced. Full-blooded Socialism can then really take off in America, with the worth of the individual citizen relegated to that of mere State fodder.
How many people who voted for Obama realised that they were electing an enemy to power ? An enemy who'll reduce your standing as individuals .. and reduce your country's worth as a decisive world influence.
Socialism
is a reputability deficiency disease ..

Remember when you all would fight and defend Bush on the warrentless wiretapping and fiber surveillance of the internet and telco lines? Remember all that EFF stuff that I posted and you all still ridiculed me?
Well, look now what's happening. Obama has taken the position the Bush Admin has done and now suddenly it's all bad and evil policy. So busy where you drinking the Bush Kool-Aid, that you didn't see the massive expanse in power that was going on. You even defended it! And now that Obama is doing the same thing Bush did, you declare it bad. Well HMPH, I freaking told you so, and I am now convinced you all aren't really concerned about the government busting down the laws and disrespecting the constitution. It's OK so long as YOUR GUY is the one doing it. Freaking hypocrites. If you think this isn't related to the current story you all are mad about, then here is a WAKE UP CALL. This has been in the works for some time.
Obama Administration Embraces Bush Position on Warrantless Wiretapping and Secrecy | Electronic Frontier Foundation
San Francisco - The Obama administration formally adopted the Bush administration's position that the courts cannot judge the legality of the National Security Agency's (NSA's) warrantless wiretapping program, filing a motion to dismiss Jewel v. NSA late Friday.
In Jewel v. NSA, the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) is challenging the agency's dragnet surveillance of millions of ordinary Americans. The Obama Justice Department claims in its motion that litigation over the wiretapping program would require the government to disclose privileged "state secrets." These are essentially the same arguments made by the Bush administration three years ago in Hepting v. AT&T, EFF's lawsuit against one of the telecom giants complicit in the NSA spying.
"President Obama promised the American people a new era of transparency, accountability, and respect for civil liberties," said EFF Senior Staff Attorney Kevin Bankston. "But with the Obama Justice Department continuing the Bush administration's cover-up of the National Security Agency's dragnet surveillance of millions of Americans, and insisting that the much-publicized warrantless wiretapping program is still a 'secret' that cannot be reviewed by the courts, it feels like deja vu all over again."

^ I am not calling Tehran or the Swat Valley any time soon. It also has to go through some legal process instead of the president declaring a cyber-emergency because someone has a website ridiculing him.

Barry Bolshevik is gearing up all right...his goal is to incite alarm and even rebellion so that he can claim insurrection and then declare martial law. He will however find it difficult to persuade our valiant men and women in the uniformed armed services to shoulder arms against their neighbors. Ergo, the civil defense force. I suspect that the political elites eagerly await this development so that they can silence we the little people.
