What the Palin resignation means
Alaska Governor Sarah Palin has announced that she will step down as Alaska governor at the end of this month. The question is, why? Anyone can speculate. I think there is something odd going on either in her family or ethics wise. Why else would someone who has only been Governor for 2 and a half years step down? To run for President? If so, she would not seek re-election next year, not resign. To run for U.S. Senate? Thats more likely.
Everyone on here knows I believe Mitt Romney or Mike Huckabee will be the 2012 nominee for president and the past 2 weeks helps them. Romney and Huckabee's biggest challengers would have been Mark Sanford and Sarah Palin. Though Newt Gingrich might run, I don't think he will. The new GOP darkhorse candidate is Senator John Thune, but he isn't as much of a challenge as Sanford since Sanford was from South Carolina, the most important GOP primary. Pick your candidate 2012: Mitt Romney or Mike Huckabee. Yes, Barbour and Thune will run. Paul will run, and I know all the Paulbots will bug me for not including him, but I am giving analysis, not opinion.
What they are thinking to themselves:
Mitt Romney: " I have just won the republican nomination"
Mike Huckabee: " Now, every social conservative will flock to me"
Newt Gingrich: " Our party is in disrepair"
John Thune: " I am the next conservative to run in 2012"
Haley Barbour: " One less Governor in the race"

Am I the only one that wants to see a new face on the 2012 ballot? Why are Huckabee, Romney and Paul running again?
I guess that this is a part of party politics that just irks me. We have all of these people in the party that decide, "I want to be President" and then they line up every 4 years for a chance at a nomination - how many times did McCain run? Are we surprised that he lost?Co-Host - the East Coast Conservative Podcast http://www.eastcoastconservative.com

There is an outdated axiom the GOP operates by, he who came close last time gets to run next time.

I'd love to see Mike Pence or Eric Cantor run.

07-04-2009 12:40 AM #7Nothing "analysis" about leaving someone out. If anything he's going to steal Fiscal Conservatives away from Huckabee, giving them each a portion. Then Romney can run with his moderates and overtake the party, for the 4th election in a row.Paul will run, and I know all the Paulbots will bug me for not including him, but I am giving analysis, not opinion.

If Huckabee, Romney and Paul are all the GOP can come up with in 2012 the Conservative philosophy will be officially dead in the Republican Party.
I think the Palin resignation means that Sarah has concluded after a year stateside that the GOP is fighting Reagan Conservatism just as hard as the Demoncrats.
I hope she resigned to join the AIP in Alaska and will run as their candidate on a platform of sovereign independence for Alaska.
If Alaska & Texas seceded many smaller red states would probably follow.
That would force reform in D.C. I don't think any other method will restore our Constitution at this point.

My word, but the possibilities are endless!
I suppose a govenor of the largest and least populated state in the union does not provide much of a platform for national reform and publicity. A run for the Senate,as a precursor for 2012 presidency run, would be a possibility. But could there be other issues?
Did Sarah Palin pose for compromising pictures in a coming edition of "Field and Stream"? I PROMISE to buy a couple of copies, if so.
Was there a secret tie between Michael Jackson and Sarah Palin? Hello, National Inquirer! Inquiring minds want to know!(Just kidding about that gives me the HEEBIE-JEEBIES!)
I don't know. When we saw SP in Virginia Beach at the big rally, everybody wanted to see and hear her. The crowd really started to thin when John McCain took the podium. Is this a move to keep Sarah Palin before the American People? To get her out of Alaska and into the limelight? Stand by,folks.
