Studies have shown, when you place a person in power over another person, as in a prison setting, the one in power will have the tendency to become overbearing and controlling.
This young lady was in a setting where she along with others had power over prisoners who had great disdain for Americans to begin with and they ALL reacted to their circumstances as the studies suggested. The guards became quite brutal and acted inhumanely because of these circumstances, and when caught the young lady got thrown to the wolves. Just think about it, can anybody even come up with a name of ANY of the co-conspirators? Nope, she became the poster child for Abu Ghraib, and she'll never be given a chance.
And all she did, was to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

So she doesn't hold any blame for her actions because of she was put in a bad situation? That's beyond wrong.

The woman shouldn't have done what she did plain and simple. I don't buy the excuse of just following orders. How often has that excuse been used in history to do wrong? I don't care if those men were terrorists or not, it wasn't her job to play with them and pose for pictures. Her job was to keep watch of the prisoners.

When I was stationed at NAS Barbers Pt., I worked in the com-nav shop of the avionics division of AIMD (Aircraft Intermediate Maintenance Department). We had changed buildings, and at our old location, we had rooftop antennas for some of the benches (workstations for specific items of equipment). They were nice-to-have items, but not necessary for full maintenance capability; I never missed having them on the HF radios that I worked on.

A few weeks before I was due to get out of the Navy, I was informed by my shop supervisor that I needed to file a report that showed degraded status on the benches in question to get priority on a parts order for rooftop antennae so that they would arrive in time for a final round of contract work to be done on the new building.

The benches were not ligitimately degraded, and I argued. He insisted, and I finally told him no. He got someone else to do it, and wrote a counseling sheet on me, on which I wrote that the order I had been given was an unlawful one.

If I had it to do over, I would have ordered the other guy to belay the order to file that report, and I would have refused to sign the counseling sheet. I should have told him that if he wanted to take action, he'd have to write up a report chit, at which point, I'd write one up on him for violating the UCMJ article pertaining to fraud, even though it wasn't for personal profit.

I never believed in being a blind follower. Sometimes (lol) people in power make bone-headed decisions and they rely on those zombie followers to carry out their wishes.
