It's a no win situation for the citizens. You either stand there and act "civil" while they lie and spin to your face, or you can act up and be labeled "un-American". Lose-lose.

And if you act civil, I doubt that they will never allow you a chance to speak at all. This is about squelching dissent, even though the dissent seems to be the majority (by a slim margin) opinion.

This is what is so frustrating, the politicians just want to sell their legislation instead of getting input from constituents.

They lie, twist, spin - all insulting the intelligence of the town hall people - and expect people to sit there and be lied to. That is at least a vulgar act of disrespect and at most an act of treason. To willfully mislead the people, and expect them to sit their like trained monkeys to listen to the lies, is naive on their part.

No doubt were the politicians' positions at least honest with the facts and situation, the "un-Americans" would be a bit more civil.

Like when Sarah Palin tried to do that TV interview? Remember what happens when you play along with their PR schemes?

What interview was that? Without the context of the interview to which you are referring, I'm in the dark as to your meaning.

Here's my take on the whole town hall issue. Democrats use them to basically have a pulpit from which to spew their garbage. We're at a point in this debate, and more broadly as a country, where politicians will not answer questions honestly. They spin things so far and so dishonestly that they deserve neither the respect nor the "obedience" they want.

When a politician of Nancy Pelousy's leaning can go to a town hall meeting, be open and honest about the legislation and the true goals and provisions of the legislation, and actually address questions asked, then and only then would I look down upon these disruptions.

Politicians have so poisoned the debate in America with lies that it's not possible for a town hall to be of any benefit, except to protest.
Protesting government action is the purest form of being American....The Republic was founded out of protest....

I bet Nancy was'nt thinking it was "Un-American" when her classmates were protesting Vietnam....

Remember the guy at Dingel's town hall with his son in a wheel chair ???? Seems there was much more to the story.

Turns out the meeting was packed with his (Dingel's) people in the front rows and people were not happy with Dingel's "half answers".

Cavuto interviewed a couple that attended and said he would only take questions submitted ahead of time and Dingel's people selected which to answer.

Unfortunately, local democrats got there first (from several people I spoke with in line, WAY before 5:30) and were led into the conference room through a side door and not through the front entrance that the rest of us waited to enter through.

The local democrats took up nearly 6-7 rows out of the 9 rows that I could see through a side window.

The rest of them moseyed outside to try to engage the crowd in an argument about HR 3200.
They tried to antagonize those in line by telling us that we didn't know what we were talking about (even after several people pulled out hard copied of sections of the bill and offered to pull it up on the PDA's...but according to them, it wasn't the REAL bill).

Dingell told Fox 2 afterward that the forum had been infiltrated by opponents.
What a shame, "opponents" showed up.
