Smile Global Warming Alarmism is Unacceptable and Should be Confronted

    Hawaii Reporter

Vaclav Klaus is the current President of the Czech Republic. He gave this speech at the Hilton Hotel in Portland, Oregon on September 2008

Global Warming Alarmism is Unacceptable and Should be Confronted

By Vaclav Klaus, 10/1/2008 9:15:22 AM

    EXCERPT:

Many thanks for the invitation and for the opportunity to be here with all of you. I have visited the U.S. many times since the fall of communism in November 1989 when – after almost half a century – traveling to the free world became for people like me possible again, but I’ve never been to this beautiful city and to the state of Oregon before. Once again, thank you very much.

I am expected to talk here about global warming today (even though I don’t really feel it, especially not in this room) and my address will be devoted mostly to this issue. As you may expect Oregon is – for me – in this respect connected with the well-known Oregon petition which warned and keeps warning against the irrationality and one-sidedness of the global warming campaign. Rational people know that the warming we experience is well within the range of what seems to have been a natural fluctuation over the last ten thousand years. We should keep saying this very loudly.

Wow. I love this guy. This guy really has his act together in many areas. This piece isn't even really about global warming -- It's about the very core of all the debates we have going today. I wish I'd known about this speech and could have had the opportunity to hear it firsthand. I should pay attention to the Cascade Policy Institute website more often -- Love those guys too :D

Yes he is a breath of fresh air from europe.

I have posted a couple more of his speeches at my forum before. They get a lot of reads. He gave one at the New York Convention back in March in NY city too.

He is popular while being a climate skeptic.

I remember learning that we're entering in a closer to circular orbit than usual as opposed to a wildly eccentric elliptical orbit. At this point, I think ice should be melting and falling off faster than previously, but is currently doing so a bit faster than it should. Now we are only responsible for .28% of greenhouse emissions... and that obviously would not do it alone. I mean, our cycle would fall back into wildly elliptical and we'd head back to Ice Age before that made any difference.

Probably the reason we find the real world ice melting rate higher than every plausable calculation done so far may be rooted in our agrarian revolution and everything we've done since then all topping eachother off.

I don't think it's preventable in any other way than exterminating most of the world's population... which I am not proposing. Whats going to happen is going to happen. We just so happened to have an agrarian revolution a few thousand years as we approach as circular as our orbit may become through it's cycle of becoming eccentric and not.

Switching away from Fossil Fuels has benefits other than what some may suggest... such as energy independence. Drilling offshore, for example, would not yield anything significant to become energy independant, while drilling in ANWR could. I have recently gone from anti drilling in ANWR to undecided until I learn more of how government may limit their footprint in the wildlife reserve.

    Well, I've ranted too much.

    purdyaw,

Here are a couple of posts that shows Glaciers began melting back a few hundred years ago.

That is because the world is rebounding from the centuries of the LIA climatic epoch.

Yes, and this falls right within my argument because the agrarian revolution occured thousands of years ago, with it's height occuring a few hundred years ago.

You will need to provide some details.Since I fail to see the connection you claim.
