I doubt that she'll live to an average lifespan, with all the complications that have come and are likely to follow (and when something is way out of whack like this, there are almost invariably complications).

I have to agree here. =( And I feel really bad for her; the life she'll never know!

Actually. now that i think about it. Our friends have a daughter. I don't remember the name of the condition, common. She is mentally and physically retarded. She is 32..never expected to live that long. She has the mind of a 2 year old, baby talks. And can't walk. Very little. Her mother...late fifties still carries her...about 80 pounds. 32 years old and 80 pounds. perpetual child. she's a happy 'kid' and her parents have endless patience with her. And they have endless love and joyfulness in her existence. It's amazing to watch them.
