I have been looking back at the history of “the political bosses’ presidential candidates.” The last one was Hubert Humphrey in 1968. He won one delegate in the primaries yet got the Democrat presidential nomination because Lyndon Johnson ordered it. Previously you have go back to Warren Harding in 1920 who was the product of the “smoke filled room.”
Biden and Harris are examples of the bosses’ picks. Biden never survived long enough in a primary season to get to New Hampshire until this year. The only reason he had a chance this year was because he was Obama’s VP. Congressman, Jim Claiborne, saved his candidacy on behalf of the bosses because the alternative was Bernie Sanders.
Harris didn’t survive as a primary candidate long enough to make it to Iowa. Despite the fact that she is “a person of color” and female, the Democrat voters didn’t want her. Yet, now here she is perhaps in the driver’s seat to be President of the United States when Biden goes down in less than four years, which is a virtual certainty.
So much for the primary voters picking the candidates in the Democrat Party.
