Best Music of the 1970s

1.David Bowie
2. Pink Floyd
3. Greg Kihn Band
4. Iggy Pop
5. Pentagram
6. Blue Oyster Cult
7. Love
8. Jimmy Hendrix
9. Talking Heads
10. The Rolling Stones

My personal favorite outside of everything Bowie:

I have a personal vendetta against Jim Morrison and The Doors overrated as flip.
The Velvet Underground’s Venus in Furs did everything the doors did in one song and did it better.

I’d add to that:

Van Halen
Yes
Rush
Led Zeppelin
The Cars
The Police
The J. Geils Band
Aerosmith

I love these three I would think the Cars & The police would be more 80s, Aerosmith almost ended up on my list. I never really clicked with Rush there was one b-side on a late album Called “Roll The Bones” that I jived with nothing much else.

80’s since you cheated (cars, the police)

  1. Anything With Sting (Gordon Summer)
  2. The Cure
  3. Sisters of Mercy
  4. Depeche Mode
  5. Dramarama
  6. Platinum Blonde
  7. The Pixies
  8. Patti Smith
  9. Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood etc
  10. U2

I hate hair metal with a passion. I saw a bunch of hair metal bands live with one of my exs it felt like pain. Tons of headliner Whitesnake, Poison, Def Leppard. They didn’t have ozzy but they had Lita ford so one guy stepped in and slaughtered Close My Eyes Forever. Ironically I liked Ozzy’s stuff in the 90s. Just like I like David bowies 70s and 90s stuff and ignore his 80s stuff. 90’s rock I couldn’t limit it to 10.
