Christians Outreach Into Strip Clubs, Porn Conventions to Share Love of Jesus

To prepare the outreach teams before they venture out to pray, minister and counsel those who need the love of Jesus Christ, Craig said that through strip church they’ve established a network of like-minded ministries that communicate through a closed Facebook account, weekly blogs, and monthly phone and Internet calls to support and encourage each other as they continue their mission work; and most importantly, they share praises for the lives that have been transformed through Jesus Christ.

I am very skeptical of this. It’s one thing to reach out to the sinner. It’s another to go into a place where there is great temptation for the believer and unbeliever alike.

I believe there are a few Christians who can handle this, but not very many, and it should not be done on a “general” basis.

This below is NOT posted as an argument against the efforts of the people described in the OP.

This below is what happened one time, to one man.

Some of you may remember Rev. Bob Harrington, the “Chaplain of Bourbon Street.” He went
into the strip clubs on Bourbon Street in New Orleans with his Bible and preached the gospel
to … lol … naked women. Naked as in “wearing nothing but shoes and a smile.”

He ended up “away from the Lord” for 17 years.

Anyway as he says in this interview it was "Three things got me: fame, finance, and frolic."

You don’t have to be a scientist at MIT to figure out what “frolic” means!

Your wife isn’t telling you that any more because she knows what you’re turning into.

Chastened Chaplain

Editor’s Note: From 1962 to 1978, Bob Harrington, the “Chaplain of Bourbon Street,” was arguably one of the best known, and inarguably one of the most flamboyant ministers in America. His decline and fall took him off the front pages of newspapers and the circuit of television talk shows into a life he freely acknowledges of a highly public backslider.

Bob Harrington has come home, and in this interview he candidly details how his highly publicized fall, and his less publicized return to the Lord came about.

We offer this to our readers as both a warning and as a testimony to the forgiveness and grace of our Lord.

Bob said, “the Bourbon Street world — that kind of temptation didn’t bother me because I knew they were notoriously wicked.” I say you can believe that foolishness if you want to, but I’ll pass on believing that. I didn’t just “get off the boat” and I am not ever going to believe that Bob being around large numbers of young beautiful totally naked women for hours and hours day after day did not bother him. If you believe that then I need to talk to you about a famous bridge in Brooklyn that I want to sell, and I know for a fact YOU will buy it from me, for say $500.00 using Paypal … lol …

Anyway, Bob says in that quote up there, that its was NOT the naked women on Boubon Street that got him, rather it was the “sweet, little ol’ church members” [women] that got him.

I have not read anywhere near all the article. I post it for those who want to read it.

“David and Bathsheba” is a very old and very sad story.

Chastened Chaplain

Course, Bob Harrington’s story had a happy ending.

Thank the Lord.

I couldn’t do it… xD

Even though I worked Night Clubs for over a decade, I have never set one foot in a Strip club. I was in clubs every night, and the last thing I wanted to do on my day off, was to go to ANY club.
I just do not see it as “my kinda fun”. I really never gave it a lot of thought, unless someone invited me. My opinion of such places is such, that I wouldn’t like ME, if I did.
I’d rather go fishing, or play golf.

I agree it may not be feasible for men to be involved in such a ministry. However, from the video it appears these are women infiltrating and passing out Bibles, tracts, etc.
