Elite K-8 school teaches white students they’re born racist

Liberals bringing segregation back to a school near you!:flag:

An elite Manhattan school is teaching white students as young as 6 that they’re born racist and should feel guilty benefiting from “white privilege,” while heaping praise and cupcakes on their black peers.

Administrators at the Bank Street School for Children on the Upper West Side claim it’s a novel approach to fighting discrimination, and that several other private New York schools are doing it, but even liberal parents aren’t buying it.

They complain the K-8 school of 430 kids is separating whites in classes where they’re made to feel awful about their “whiteness,” and all the “kids of color” in other rooms where they’re taught to feel proud about their race and are rewarded with treats and other privileges.

Berating kids as racist because of their skin color is more likely to engender racism than to “educate” them. It’s a bizarre trait of human beings that when they are continually berated for something they don’t do, they come to resent those doing the berating. I know, we humans are weird.

True, Pete. It’s a matter of “If I’m going to have the NAME then I might as well have the GAME, too!”

I think it’s more a matter of noticing who is doing the rhetorical clubbings. Unless different experiences counter the impression, the kids being clubbed will rather naturally fall into us vs. them thinking (much the way some minority kids hear nothing but, “Whitey is out to get you!” victimhood poison and, lacking contradictory experiences, assume it’s true).

But you’re right, being trapped in, “damned-if-you-do-damned-if-you-don’t” lose-lose expectations will persuade some that there’s no point in resisting the expectations.

Parents who find their kids in these kinds of traps need to fight back, for their kids, with lawsuits, by challenging school board members in meetings and in the ballot box, and by private- or home-schooling their kids. Educrat-ideologues are unlikely to be persuaded of the error of their worldview, so they need to feel the consequences thereof.
