The professor embroiled in a educational firestorm over his classroom practices has been placed on administrative leave.
Officials at Florida Atlantic University announced the move against Dr. Deandre Poole after receiving a complaint from student Ryan Rotella, who claims he was unfairly suspended from class for not writing the word ”Jesus” on a piece of paper and stomping on it as part of a class exercise.

Meanwhile the school is penalizing the student and now hiding the teacher with pay while his actions can blow over from the public’s eye.

Damage control/throwing a bone…

From the article sam linked:

The schools said removing Dr. Poole from the classroom was “for safety reasons” after the incident garnered a lot of media attention.

While it may have a CYA side-effect, this is actually a grandstanding slander of the student who dared object and go public, and a slander of people supporting him. This prof would be as safe or safer sitting an hour in a Mormon ward or a Southern Baptist Church as he would walking around FAU’s campus for an hour.

It is because our Lord told us to turn the other cheek that professors like this keep doing these antics .
And yea I agree fantasy about it being damage control/damage control, so the seculars in educational institutions could say “see we are fair towards the rights of Christians also”. Who are they trying to fool here?

The trouble is that “turn the other cheek” doesn’t mean “be a doormat,” as it is so often mis-interpreted. Jesus was no doormat. I think “turn the other cheek” simply means that we don’t have to respond to every little personal insult. That is what “turn the other cheek” means. It refers to a backhand across the cheek, which was more or less a challenge to a duel. That scripture is one that is misused almost as much as “judge not that ye be not judged,” which is referring to judging someone else for something that you do yourself (or that you maybe do worse than). That is exemplified by the simile (immediately following) of the “mote” in your brother’s eye, and the “plank” in your own eye. After you remove the “plank” from your own eye, you are permitted to remove the “mote” from your brother’s eye.

True, and I don’t understand why All Christians don’t start uniting against actions like this. We are a Christian majority nation.
