Happy 4th of July! - A couple of historical pieces from 1776

Here is a piece of Continental Currency, dated February 17,1776. These notes were issued by Continental Congress to finance the Revolutionary War. Unfortunately theCongress issued too many of them, and they ultimately became worthless.

And a British guinea (21 shillings) dated 1776. The guineawas the principle British gold coin until the modern gold sovereign (20Shillings) replaced it in the 1800s.
