Lettermarking--What the Heck?

#1

Well it looks like even the republicans were not truthful about getting rid of earmarks–

Though Mr. Kirk and other Republicans thundered against pork-barrel spending and lawmakers’ practice of designating money for special projects through earmarks, they have not shied from using a less-well-known process called lettermarking to try to direct money to projects in their home districts…
Lettermarking, which takes place outside the Congressional appropriations process, is one of the many ways that legislators who support a ban on earmarks try to direct money back home.

Yes, we definitely need to do more changing in Washington. I am personally angered at hearing how this project or that project needs to be done. In Illinois they are still pursuing a third airport that none of the airlines want as well as going after high speed rail service.

This is echoed by other states that while telling their residents they are broke still want to engage in frivolous projects that could be dealt with in more prosperous times.

Meanwhile states are not paying bills for services that they have contracted for.
