Mandatory ‘Smokers License’

Snip:

the smartcard would allow the government to limit how many cigarettes a smoker could buy. Professor Chapman suggests 50 per day averaged over two weeks to accommodate heavy smokers.

Lets see the government wants to tell you what to eat and how much and now a license to get cigarettes. The realization of course is that requires a database that will keep track of the cigarettes people buy.

Now that their messiah has been re-elected, continual communistic onslaughts like this will not be the norm.

Like the NYC soda ban, this will affect hardly anyone and have virtually no effect overall. How many smoke more than 2.5 packs per day. I was smoking three packs a day for one term in college, but I averaged 1.25 packs a day probably as a smoker. It’s just a measure to show that they can and set precedent. Once something like this becomes the norm, then we the sheople will happily give up the next step with no protest. More authoritarianism run rampant. The fact that anyone might seriously propose something like this or the soda ban is very telling about how far we have fallen in terms of individual rights.
