Matthew 7:13-14

**Matthew 7:13-14 **

13 “Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. 14 For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few."

Both the narrow gate and the wide gate are often presumed to provide the entrance to God’s Kingdom. Two ways are offered to people. The narrow gate is by faith, only through Christ, constricted and precise. It represents true salvation in God’s Way that leads to life eternal. The wide gate includes all religions of works and self-righteousness, with no single way, but it leads to Hell, not Heaven.

It becomes a scandal when it is preached Christ is the way. As long as the world hears He is one of the many ways or a way there is acceptance. Once the true Gospel is preached, however, that He is the way and the only way is when there is a scandal and the message becomes offensive. Yet, it is the only time the message is true.

The Gospel does not have power by being like the culture. The Gospel has relevance and power not by being acceptable to carnal men. The Gospel has relevance and power by being a scandal to carnal men. Yet, the true Gospel is the absolute truth, that Jesus Christ is the way and the only way; that those who repent and trust in Him unto salvation will be saved and those who don’t will perish in eternal torment.
