NBA moving 2017 All-Star Game out of Charlotte over NC transgender law

So happy to hear politics is MORE important than Basketball, then count me out!

NBA moving 2017 All-Star Game out of Charlotte over NC transgender law
The National Basketball Association will not hold its annual All-Star Game in Charlotte next year due to North Carolina’s so-called “Bathroom Law” limiting anti-discrimination protection for LGBT people, the league announced Thursday.
The league had expressed its opposition to the law known as HB2 since it was enacted in March, and its decision Thursday came shortly after stage legislators revisited the law and chose to leave it largely unchanged.
“While we recognize that the NBA cannot choose the law in every city, state, and country in which we do business, we do not believe we can successfully host our All-Star festivities in Charlotte in the climate created by HB2,” the league said in a statement.
The league says it hopes to announce a new location for next February’s events shortly, and that it also hopes to reschedule the 2019 game for Charlotte.
“We understand the NBA’s decision and the challenges around holding the NBA All-Star Game in Charlotte this season. There was an exhaustive effort from all parties to keep the event in Charlotte, and we are disappointed we were unable to do so,” Charlotte Hornets chairman and Hall of Famer Michael Jordan said. "With that said, we are pleased that the NBA opened the door for Charlotte to host All-Star weekend again as soon as an opportunity was available in 2019."
The NBA’s decision was first reported by Yahoo Sports and USA Today. Yahoo reported that New Orleans is now the frontrunner to host the Feb. 19 showcase.
The North Carolina law, enacted earlier this year, directs transgender people to use public toilets corresponding to the sex listed on their birth certificate. The law also excludes LGBT people from state anti-discrimination protections and blocks local governments from expanding LGBT protections.
“We are disappointed that Commissioner Silver has decided to cancel the League’s commitment to the City of Charlotte, the Charlotte Hornets, and the people of North Carolina over the League’s desire to give in to the bullying by radical left-wing groups like the Human Rights Campaign and Equality NC,” said Tami Fitzgerald, Executive Director of NC Values Coalition in a statement.
“The League has decided that advancing a political agenda that embraces allowing grown men into the bathrooms and showers of young girls is more important than protecting the privacy and safety of their fans,” her statement continued.

One more example of political correctness. I am not happy about going to the bathroom with women, but I’m sure that women will be less happy about doing their private bodily function with men Why are we going though though this? It’s political correctness.

The NBA has changed a lot in the last couple of decades. From what I’ve seen, about 99% of the NBA players are strong supporters of Black Lives Matter.

One can only wonder just how MANY NBA players are trans-gendered and therefore “victims” of this law?

Anyone see the commercial on TV the past couple of days, that shows a man dressed in a woman’s oufit who is a tranny and is being denied using a woman’s bathroom.

Look a bit harder: It was not apparent the ‘woman’ was a man, short dress, long hair and looked more woman than man. Now how is ANYONE going to know, do we believe there are bathroom monitors in bars/restaurants that look for men in a short skirt? NOT hardly, so its a phony and a setup to make you think tranny’s are getting denied, they aren’t unless the tranny conveys to mgt they are a man in a woman’s dress…

What I think is the driver, this is the govt creating a solution to a non-problem in order to bring another minority group into the voting base…

[/quote]Nah, it’s just a plain old distraction. There aren’t nearly enough trannies to swing any election. It’s just to give both sides stupid crap to fight over, so they don’t mess with the banker’s, trade deals, and wages.

It’s just one more pointless distraction. And an effective one. People around here(and other political forums) spend more time posting about Trannies in the Toilet™ than on pocketbook issues that effect them on a daily basis. The reason the government is the way it is, is because voters can be distracted by any shiny object, and pay attention to fantasy ideas(trannies being bullied, rapists using new laws about toilets to rape women and children), rather than real world things that they experience every day.

No, I did mean to imply they brought much more to the table than a few votes, but to the Dims anyone and everyone they can pull under the tent by trading special class status to for their vote is fine by them.

Trannies are already %90+ Dem. This changed nothing. But conspiracies also feed into the distraction, so that works for the powers that be as well.

You realize of course that when you get identifed as a minority group this entitles you to special benefits that others do not get…this is how you get them in the tent!

I know, it’s terrible! We should stop it/make sure it happens! Way more important that I worry about what some dude in a dress is doing in NC, than pay attention to things that affect me and my family. I care more about the imaginary cross dresser, obviously!
