No more snow in Britian

Or how the “experts” got it wrong again

Funny how life as a way of proving
“experts” wrong who wax and wane on what the climate will do.

First the prediction:

Snowfalls are now just a thing of the past

Britain’s winter ends tomorrow with further indications of a striking environmental change: snow is starting to disappear from our lives.

Britain’s winter ends tomorrow with further indications of a striking environmental change: snow is starting to disappear from our lives.
Sledges, snowmen, snowballs and the excitement of waking to find that the stuff has settled outside are all a rapidly diminishing part of Britain’s culture, as warmer winters - which scientists are attributing to global climate change - produce not only fewer white Christmases, but fewer white Januaries and Februaries.

Then the reality:

Coldest December since records began

[SIZE=3]Swathes of Britain skidded to a halt today as the big freeze returned - grounding flights, closing rail links and leaving traffic at a standstill.
And tonight the nation was braced for another 10in of snow and yet more sub-zero temperatures - with no let-up in the bitterly cold weather for at least a month, forecasters have warned.

The Arctic conditions are set to last through the Christmas and New Year bank holidays and beyond and as temperatures plummeted to -10c (14f) the Met Office said this December was ‘almost certain’ to become the coldest since records began in 1910.

I blame it all on Global Warming! … um…when are we getting the warming part?

Normally, we dont have any snow or bad weather here in the southwest until Febuary as the Gulf air blowing off Florida keeps all that bad stuff at bay. As you can see, we have not been hit anything like as hard as the North of England, London or the East coast.

Taking the dogs for a walk yesterday (Sunday 19th December 2010)

However, Florida has its own problems and the cold northern air is coming down from Northern Russia, Sweden and Norway has brought cold air, snow and freezing temps. It happens from time to time!

We Brits never prepare for the worst in the weather as it doesnt really happen that often, maybe a nice cup of tea will sort it all out?

That dog looks like a large version of Bandit from the Johnny Quest cartoons…

Rarely are experts right in a news story.

If you think “experts” would be wise enough to shy away from outlandish predictions, Paul Ehrlich is still a prof at Stanford and AlGore is still a jetsetting multimillionaire (might be getting fewer 20-something and 30-something female groupies, though, IYKWIM).
