California regulators may force a massive solar thermal power plant in the Mojave Desert to shut down after years of under-producing electricity — not to mention the plant was blinding pilots flying over the area and incinerating birds.
The Ivanpah solar plant could be shut down if state regulators don’t give it more time to meet electricity production promises it made as part of its power purchase agreements with utilities, according to The Wall Street Journal.
The pitfalls of acquiescing to those with little insight and did not think of the ramifications of another alternative energy source which shows it did not meet expectations and is a drag on the consumers who have to pay for its under performance and maintenance.
I have to wonder how many of these alternative energy sources have either went bust or ended up costing more than what they were supposed to produce.
Recently I read an article about rusting wind turbines that litter the country side and remain standing
