Relgion - US history

Two interesting figures here:
William Miller - February 15, 1782 – December 20, 1849
Mother Ann Lee - 29 February 1736 – 8 September 1784
Know of them? So much for God’s punishment for human depravity and end of the world.

From a Christian POV, we generally are unable to see God’s workings in history. We can infer how He may have acted, but that isn’t the same as being sure. For example, Miller was most famous for his failed prediction for 1843 and 1844; we know the end of the world did not happen. However some thing horrible and bloody did happen in the US less than 20 years later; and a little more than a decade after 1843 something rather bloody happened in SE Europe. If End-of-the-World predictions are hazardous, scoffing at God may not be especially safe either.
