The 1950s Science Kit That Had Real Uranium

I had a piece of Uranium ore in a rock and mineral set I got for Christmas in 1961.

Me, too, except I got mine a bit earlier…around 1955. It had a piece of Pitchblende ore in it.

I had a science kit in the early 1970’s that had a bag of powder with uranium in it. After I joined the Navy and went through Nuclear Power School, I realized that if that uranium became airborne and we breathed it, it would be in position to do maximum damage even if it was barely radioactive. Grief. I came home, found it and got rid of it.
