The NRA and Pressure cookers

MSNBC host Lawrence O’Donnell made the case this evening that the National Rifle Association is to blame for the slow investigation into the Boston bombings:
“There are new developments tonight in the bombing investigation here in Boston,” said O’Donnell. "But that investigation could be moving faster were it not for the successful lobbying efforts of the National Rifle Association. The NRA’s efforts to guarantee that American mass murderers are the best-equipped mass murders in the world is not limited to murderers who use assault weapons and high-capacity magazines. The NRA is also in the business of helping bombers get away with their crimes. Gunpowder could be traced by investigators to a buyer at the point of sale if gunpowder contained a taggant, an element that would enable tracing of the purchase of gunpowder. But thanks to the National Rifle Association, identification taggants are required by law only in plastic explosives. The NRA has successfully blocked any requirements for such taggants in gunpowder. So such supremely helpful evidence as taggants are not available to the FBI in this investigation."
The bombings took place at Monday’s marathon.

The leftwing media is so intent in helping Obama confiscate guns from Americans, they want to demonize an event to push people to give up their rights.

Obviously we need to ban pressure cookers.

Hell we might as well just let the government protects cause they certainly do an excellent job. I mean how many murders are there in America a year?[/sacrasm]

If we were to ban every item that could be used for a weapon or to kill someone than we’d be walking around naked with arms amputated. Guns are tools like anything else. Pressure cookers are tools like anything else. There is the normal use for them, than there’s the violent use for them. I saw a great meme. In Boston its all about the BOMBER in Sandy Hook its all about the GUN. Why isn’t Boston about the bomb then and all the items used to kill and maime more people than Sandy Hook? Should we now ban pressure cookers, limit how many ball bearings you’re allowed to buy, or put a background check on those who want to purchase kitchen appliances?

Only Assault Pressure Cookers, Trekky.

When “journalists” resort to far-fetched silliness like this it’s a sign of desperation.

OTOH, how many pressure cookers are bought in Boston? I heard this AM on radio that the manufacturer - a small company - of a battery used in one of the bombs is working with authorities. So there are materials whose sources can be back-tracked, materials not manufactured by the ton (figuratively and possibly literally).
