Well that depends on what kind of society people want to live in. Do people want to live in a society where a person can sign their lives over to a government and that government owns that person for a period of time. Or do people want to live in a free society. Slavery vs freedom.
In a truly free society a person can not contract their lives away. As HH and I have stated in the other thread a persons will is inalienable. This can only be violated by a government, not taken away.
What I have seen with the responses in this thread is in essences saying, “This soldier was a slave to the government, he contracted his life away and was owned by the government. Since he agreed to it then he should he be forced to go to war even 2 days before his contract is up.” Well if you believe that a person’s government has God like power then yes this is correct. If a person’s religion is statism, then yes it can take that person’s will and force them to fight.
What I see is a soldier who acted as a free individual and was insulted by this governments audacity in thinking it could force him to give up another year of his life and go to war. He proclaimed that if he is to be forced and thus be made a slave by this government then he is not to be trusted and even dangerous.
[/quote]You’re full of it. If you knew anything about the military and why they do things the way they do, you’d understand why your way is a load of crap. It’s the United States Armed Forces, not the Obey Orders When You Feel Like It Club.
