Republican Bill Kristol, political writer - Editor of “The Weekly Standard”, along with Fred Barnes - is a key driver behind the movement to deny Trump, the Republican nominee, the White House. This should surprise no one, as Kristol has been a supporter of the status quo, Washington elitist class for decades.
That said, Kristol’s strategy is quite clear. It amounts to entering what he views as a viable 3rd candidate into the November fray. " Viable" defined as someone who will take enough votes away from Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump to ensure neither candidate receives the required majority of electoral votes.
Kristol hopes to throw the election - more accurately in this case, the SELECTION of the next president - into the laps of the House Of Representatives where the Republican Party regulars could essentially select anyone they want to be POTUS.
I don’t think much of Trump, but I think even less of taking the election process away from the American people and handing it to the very group of A-HOLES that are largely responsible for the mess we are in to begin with.
A Final Thought On This Subject: What Kristol’s mission of putting up an alternative to Trump is more likely to accomplish than anything else is the taking away from Trump enough votes to hand Hillary a state or two she would not otherwise win - and possibly handing her the presidency in what will probably be a close election. Kristol and his “candidate” could take Trump out WITHOUT winning even one electoral vote. I think what Kristol’s maneuver represents is a frantic, even desperate play for the Washington “elites”, with which Kristol identifies, to remain in control - at all cost!!.
